About Us

About Beanhugged

We started Beanhugged because we kept seeing the same problem: people build beautiful pergolas and covered patios, and then cannot enjoy them in summer because it is too hot — and hardwiring a ceiling fan feels like too big a project.

So we focused on solving that one thing. Plug-in outdoor ceiling fans that actually work outside, installed in under 30 minutes, without an electrician.

Who We Are

Beanhugged is operated by SUMMITWAVE COMMERCE LLC, a U.S. registered company responsible for brand management, customer service, product quality standards, and customer experience in the United States.

We are an online retailer — not a manufacturer. Our value is in selection judgment and customer support, not production. Every product we carry went through a real evaluation before it was listed. Products that did not pass do not appear on this site.

How We Operate

U.S. Brand and Customer Service

Our U.S. team handles everything customer-facing: brand decisions, product standards, customer inquiries, order support, and after-sales service. When you email us, you are reaching our U.S. customer service team. We respond within one business day, Monday through Friday.

Our U.S. operations representative also coordinates local warehouse management, returns processing, and logistics support to ensure reliable service for customers across the contiguous United States.

Global Operations Support

To maintain product availability and quality, parts of our supply chain management, sourcing, quality inspection, and inventory coordination are handled by our overseas operations team.

This is how we stay close to product development. Our overseas operations team evaluates suppliers, inspects products before they ship, and feeds real-world feedback — from U.S. customer reviews, usage patterns, and support requests — back into product sourcing decisions. When customers tell us a cord is too short or a mounting bracket could be better, that information reaches the people who can act on it.

We visit supplier facilities directly to evaluate build quality, test controls, and verify that products match their specifications before we agree to carry them.

Who We Had in Mind When Building This Store

The people we built this for are easy to picture:

  • You just finished a pergola and want airflow without calling an electrician
  • You have a covered patio where summer evenings should feel comfortable, not sticky
  • You are hosting a backyard dinner and want the space to feel welcoming — good light, moving air, no hassle
  • You rent your home and cannot hardwire anything, but still want your porch to be livable in July
  • You want to sit outside at night without getting driven inside by heat after fifteen minutes

These are real situations that come up constantly in home improvement discussions. The frustration is not about budget — it is about not finding something that works for a covered outdoor space without requiring a full electrical project. That is the gap we are trying to fill.

How We Choose Products

Before any fan goes on our site, we check:

  • IP rating: IP65 minimum for covered outdoor use — dust-tight and protected against water spray. We do not list fans that claim to be outdoor-rated without a verifiable IP rating.
  • Motor type: DC motors only. They run quieter and use less energy than AC motors. Important for a space where you want to relax or have a conversation.
  • Installation: Can a homeowner hang it and plug it in without tools or an electrician? If the answer is no, it is not for our customers.
  • Cord length: Is it long enough to realistically reach an outdoor outlet from a pergola beam? We verify this against real installation scenarios, not just spec sheets.
  • Controls: Does the remote work reliably? Is the app connection stable? We check this in person during supplier visits.

We also ask what we turned away. Fans with AC motors that ran too loud. Models where the cord was 6 ft — not enough for most pergola setups. Products with IP ratings that did not match the waterproof claims on the packaging. Products where the specs on paper did not match what arrived in the box. Those are not on this site.

Product Compliance

We require suppliers to provide safety and compliance documentation before we agree to carry their products. Below is an example of a compliance certificate for one of our fan models.

Supplier documentation is a baseline requirement for us, not a bonus. If a supplier cannot provide it, we do not list the product.
